2008-2009  Stage Doors Educational Series Announced
Opening the Way to Learning Through the Arts
Green Bay, WI -- May 22, 2008 --

Weidner Center Presents, Inc. is thrilled to announce the 2008-2009 Stage Doors Educational Series at the Weidner Center for the Performing Arts. Entering its second season under the direction of Weidner Center Presents, this exceptional program provides learning opportunities for students in grades Pre-K to 12 throughout Northeast Wisconsin and Upper Michigan.

The 2008-2009 Season kicks-off in October and extends through April 2009. It features 11 titles and a total of 22 performances. Programs are selected to compliment current classroom curriculums with creative and imaginative learning, critical thinking opportunities and live performance experiences. Performance-specific study guides are provided to help teachers integrate show topics into classroom activities.

During the past 2007-2008 Stage Doors Season 20,000 students and teachers attended a daytime educational program at the Weidner Center. The series drew schools from as far north as Upper Michigan and as far south as Fond du Lac and Oostburg. Nine titles and 16 performances took place between October 2007 and April 2008. The most popular shows included A Christmas Carol, Junie B. Jones, Freedom Train and The Mystery of King Tut, which all had sell-out performances.

Generous support from the community makes the Weidner Center Presents Stage Doors Education Series possible and supplements scholarships for schools demonstrating need, ensuring that every child has opportunity to experience a live performance at the Weidner Center. The 2008-2009 Season is supported by the George F. Kress Foundation, Green Bay Packaging, the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, Associated Bank, the Cornerstone Foundation, the Greater Green Bay Community Foundation and the individual annual donors to Weidner Center Presents.
