American Idol Winner Taylor Hicks Coming to Green Bay

Weidner Center Presents, Inc. is proud to bring American Idol winner Taylor Hicks to Green Bay's Weidner Center on March 27, 2007 at 7:30PM.
Hicks, popularly referred to as the "Soul Patrol!," has lived a lifetime steeped in the blues, soul, and R&B of his native Southern heroes – Ray Charles, Otis Redding, James Brown, and Sam Cook, to name a few. Hicks's artistry was reaffirmed and validated in no uncertain terms this past year as we won the fifth season of FOX's American Idol.
Taylor's dedication to roots music resounds throughout his new self-titled album, from the opening feel-good, up-tempo groove of "The Runaround," the dramatic ballad "Just To Feel That Way,” and the heartfelt closing number, "The Right Place,” which was originally written by Bryan Adams and Jim Vallance for Ray Charles to record before his death. The spirit of Ray Charles permeates the album, most notably on "Heaven Knows,” whose instrumental passages pays homage to Ray's "What'd I Say” and Marvin Gaye's "Ain't That Peculiar,” the Motown classic written by Smokey Robinson. Taylor Hicks is the first act announced by Weidner Center Presents, Inc. following the December 2006 press conference regarding its new collaborative relationship with the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay. Weidner Center Presents, Inc also programs the Bellin Health LifeLines Series, featuring Mavis Leno (January 17), Erin Gruwell (February 22), Star Jones Reynolds (April 17), and Jane Pauley (May 8) for the 2007 season.
