Thursday, November 17, 2011 • 10am & 12:30pm • Grades: K – 2
Running Time: 60 minutes

ArtsPower's Madeline and the Bad Hat, an original musical based upon the much-loved book, captures the blithe yet touching spirit of Ludwig Bemelmans's Madeline series. It traces the adventures of a young Parisian girl who – despite starting off on the wrong foot with a mischievous new neighbor – eventually learns that first impressions aren't everything.
When one fine day the Spanish Ambassador moves into the house next door, Madeline and Miss Clavel and the other girls quickly discover that his son Pepito is a true horror! Rude and conceited, Pepito seems at first to be nothing but trouble.
But when he unexpectedly finds himself in real danger, it's up to the resourceful Madeline to get him out of it. Can she teach Pepito a lesson into the bargain, and does he have a hidden good side after all? This gently amusing tale of enemies-become-friends will charm and entertain children and parents alike.

The Science of Magic with Bill Blagg
Friday, April 27, 2012 • 10am & 12:30pm • Grades: 4 – 8
Running Time: 60 minutes

For centuries magicians have used scientific principles to make people levitate in mid-air and vanish in the blink of an eye. Illusionist Bill Blagg's one-of-a-kind educational experience, The Science of Magic, takes students on a rare journey "behind the scenes" of the magic world. Students will discover firsthand how magicians utilize the Scientific Method to create the impossible when they make one of their teachers levitate in mid-air!
The Science of Magic is not directed at teaching the specific methods magicians use to fool their audiences. Rather it's designed to excite, educate, intrigue and promote students to think "outside the box" and spawn their curiosity about how the Scientific Method can be used to create the impossible!

Junie B. Jones
Thursday, May 3, 2012 • 10am & 12:30pm • Grades: K – 5
Running Time: 60 minutes

Dear first-grade journal,
Hooray, hooray! TheatreworksUSA is making a brand-new musical (that is a play all jumbled together with singing and dancing, I believe). And what do you know! It's all about me, Junie B. Jones! (The B stands for Beatrice, only I do not like Beatrice. I just like B and that's all.)
This is the bestest musical ever, I tell you! It's got loads of funny songs, and it's based on a bunch of books this lady, Barbara Park, wrote about me and the things I do in first grade.
Junie B., First Grader (at Last!) - In first grade, I meet new friends (like Herb and José, but not that tattle-tale May). But my new teacher, Mr. Scary, thinks I might need glasses!
Junie B., Boss of Lunch - I get to help my friend, the cafeteria lady! And I get to wear a real actual hair net too! Who knows...maybe someday I'll be the boss of the whole lunch operation!
Junie B., One-Man Band - The whole entire first grade is having a kickball tournament! Only, when I practice my kicking, I stub my piggy toe so badly I can't play. But my friend Sheldon can't play either, so maybe we can do a half-time show instead!
Whew! I'm glad I can write everything down in my Top-Secret Personal Beeswax Journal! And you know what? I think I might like first grade after all
Love, (but not the mushy kind)
Junie B.
