Star Jones Reynolds

Tu, April 17, 2007

Star’s nearly two decades of media success began with her debut as a Court TV commentator in 1991. In 1992, she became Legal Correspondent for NBC Network’s Today Show and NBC Nightly News. By the mid 1990’s, Reynold’s work as Senior Correspondent and Chief Legal Analyst for Inside Edition and as the host of her own trial show, Jones and Jury, confirmed her singular talent and unique public role: a trusted journalist-lawyer who demystified complicated legal concepts and helped the public understand the tremendous impact that the law had on their daily lives.

When high-profile defendants and victims also found themselves tried in the court of public opinion, Reynolds was there, with exclusive interviews of OJ Simpson, Mike Tyson, Rodney King and other famous (and infamous) attorneys, celebrities and public officials. From 1997-2006, Reynolds served as a popular Co-Host of The View, ABC’s Emmy Winning daytime talk show.

Star calls the law “My profession and my passion.” Her tenure as an Assistant District Attorney for The City of New York, (1986-1992), was distinguished by a number of legal firsts. Star was the first ADA in NY State to obtain the maximum sentence against a 13 year old defendant guilty of the cold blooded murder of another adolescent. She secured a 66 year prison term for NYC’s infamous “Bicycle Rapist,” after other ADA’s had failed to obtain a conviction in four previous trials. A practicing attorney for twenty years, Star provides pro-bono assistance to several individuals and non profit organizations.

Star is the author of two best-selling books, If You Don’t Stand For Something, You Will Fall For Anything and Shine, a Physical, Spiritual and Emotional Journey to Finding Love. A committed philanthropist, Star is the 2007 Goodwill Ambassador for First Star, a national non profit organization protecting children in the courts and foster care systems. She serves as a Board Member/Trustee/Advisor of the following organizations: The National Urban League, The East Harlem School, the G&P Foundation for Cancer Research, God’s Love We Deliver, Fresh Start Women’s Rescue Center and Dress for Success.

Star is married to Financial Strategist Al Reynolds, and they make their home in New York and Miami.
